Wanted review

In Wanted: Weapons of Fate, Warner Bros. brings the box office movie to the Sony PlayStation 3 platform. Like the movie, the game revolves around a centuries-old, secret fraternity of assassins that brutally executes people as dictated by the mysterious Loom of Fate. Your destiny is to become their ultimate weapon.

From Big Screen to Video Game
Kicking into action where the hit film left off, Wanted: Weapons of Fate lets you play the role of Wesley Gibson -- a super assassin and the heir to The Fraternity's legacy of power. Your position has made you a target for a renegade faction of The Fraternity that is dead-set on hunting you down and killing you. In order to survive you must master an arsenal of deadly skills to protect the secrets of The Fraternity and turn the table on those who want you dead.

Bend bullets and Become a Super Assassin
This game employs plenty of mechanics that fans of the movie are sure to love. The most obvious example is curved bullets. During game play you can curve a bullet around objects or corners to hit your target. You can determine the curved trajectory of your bullet so it can bend around columns and take out multiple enemies in a single shot, or use this skill to hit an explosive object and take out your enemy with a blast.

Other cool game play features include a "quick-chain" cover to shield yourself and move through the environment with remarkable speed. The pace of the game and your assassin skills encourage close, hand-to-hand combat for even greater excitement. And as you hone your skills, you can even take down multiple enemies with sheer precision while using Assassin Time.

Meet The Heir
Wesley Gibson -- The Heir -- was once an insignificant nobody, but now he's the successor to his father's legacy as The Killer. After being betrayed by The Fraternity that trained him, Wesley took his destiny into his own hands and exacted his revenge on them all. Now he is surrounded by the destruction he caused with nothing but questions about his heritage, The Fraternity, and the Will of Fate. The answers he seeks are out there, but so is a bullet with his name on it.

The Assassin's Directory
The Russian is The Fraternity's cleaner. Known as Death's Janitor he is vulgar and perverted. He finds pleasure in things that others would find appalling. As the leader of the French Fraternity, The Immortal is not a villain -- he's a fanatic. he will stop at nothing to follow The Code of Weavers with an unwavering, unquestioning commitment. The Immortal is a supremely skilled assassin almost equal to that of The Killer (Gibson's father). Remorseless, it is not his fault that deaths occur by his hands, it is the fault of his victims for being "only mortal," and incapable of escaping Fate's Will.

Cross, also known as The Killer, is the greatest assassin that has ever lived. A member of the Chicago Fraternity, he is a true believer in The Fraternity's tenet of "Kill one, save a thousand." Although his name was never wove by the Loom of Fate, Cross discovered a secret in the Chicago Fraternity that made him the target of those who were once his allies.

The Godfather II review

Inspired by the events of the classic film of the same name, in The Godfather II players take on the role of Dominic Corleone, a little-known member of the Corleone crime family tasked with rebuilding the once dominant, but now faltering Mafia empire. Set in an open-world gameplay universe full of dangers and opportunities, players must maintain and develop the Corleone crime family's resources using every and all means available if they hope in the end to prevail in the ultimate challenge, to act like a mobster, but think like a Don.

Story
On the eve of the Cuban revolution, a major mob meeting in Havana takes a bloody turn. The Don of your family is killed in Cuba, leaving it to you to take the reigns and lead your battered organization and reestablish the Corleone powerbase in Queens. Success breeds opportunity: after you've proven you have the chops to run a top-tier crime organization, Hyman Roth invites you to expand and support him in South Florida. Do you accept his offer or do you remain loyal to the Corleones? Things get even more complicated when Michael Corleone comes under investigation by a Senate Committee on Organized Crime, and you're tapped to run the Family with support from Tom Hagen. Whatever decisions you make, you must build up your arsenal, command your crew, and establish and maintain power... or face the consequences. Stack your pockets with favors from those in positions of influence as you fight off attacks and strike back at your rivals. As the Godfather there will be a price on your head and a target on your back, but don't take it personally. After all, it's only business.

The Don's View
Be a true Don as you coordinate all the action using a 3D world map: survey your turf, place defenses on businesses, analyze crime patterns, identify new illicit rackets, and choose the target of your next attack. As the Don of a family, there are a ton of strategic choices to make in The Godfather 2. Just one example are Monopolies. Monopolies are groupings of rackets that "run" the same criminal activity. Controlling, and defending a monopoly comes with both a monetary bonus and game perk benefits making them key to owning the map, gaining wealth and amassing power. Monopolies can be local to one city or span across the cities. Larger monopolies made up of many targets, spanning multiple cities are obviously more difficult but offer greater rewards. Other in-game rackets include: Fronts - extortable legitimate businesses of the game that provide payouts as well as money laundering opportunities; and Small, Medium and Large Rackets - venues containing an illegal criminal activity and usually disguised as legitimate businesses. These three require various degrees of muscle to defend and keep under your control.

Key Game Features:

  • Build Your Family - Recruit, develop, and promote members of your crime family.
  • Command a Crew - Bring up to three crew members along on jobs, including an arsonist, demolitions expert, safecracker, and more. Command their actions in battle and unleash their specialties on your enemies.
  • The Don's View - Be a true Don as you coordinate all the action using a 3D world map: survey your turf, place defenses on businesses, analyze crime patterns, identify new illicit racket monopolies, and choose the target of your next attack.
  • Blackhand Brutality - Act like a mobster to command respect, intimidating and extorting business owners and rival families with devastating new attacks and executions.
  • Bring Your Family Online - Recruit your friends to join your family and take them into battle online to find out who is the Don of Dons.
  • 'It's Only Business' - Relive the greatest moments from The Godfather II in an open-world action experience inspired by the movie.
Commanding Your Crew
There are six ranks within each family, starting with the Don. As the Don you will have a right hand man, your Consigliere Tom Hagen, who will teach you the ropes and advise you on how to take down the other families. The rest of your family is comprised of an Underboss, Capos, Soldiers and Associates. These are the men who guard your interests and follow your orders without question. Members of your family within these ranks, known as Made Men, possess exclusive skills and specialties that can be taken into battle. Direct them wisely and upgrade them to develop their specialties and increase the power of your organization. But beware. Each rival family has it’s own family tree as well. Learning how to hunt down and permanently eliminate their Made Men will be critical to your success.

Take Your Family Online in Multiplayer Modes
Play The Godfather II online multiplayer modes and become the true Don of Dons. Take your money, weapons, and crew from your singleplayer experience online and wage mob warfare against players around the world. Play as one of your family’s Made Men and put your best strategies to the test as you battle for riches and honors that transfer back and forth between your singleplayer campaign. Some available modes include:

Fire Starter Game Mode - Arsonist crew members attempt to destroy as much as possible in a race to reach the scoring limit.

Safe Cracker Mode - Safe cracker crew members attempt to find safes throughout the map. Cracking them earns your team points and money.

Demolition Assault Mode - Use your demolitions specialty to destroy the enemy’s three assault points.

Team Deathmatch - The bloodiest mode and so not for the squeamish. Team with most kills wins.

Terminator Salvation review

In Terminator: Salvation, you are John Connor, a soldier in this post-apocalyptic world, and it's up to you to lead your squad of loyal fighters in a desperate battle for survival against the superior forces of Skynet and its deadly Terminators. Use the environment and objects in it to provide cover and protection as the T-600 and T-7T shoot relentlessly at you and your squad from all angles and the lethal Aerostat blasts you from above.

Story
Terminator: Salvation is a prequel to the events of the major motion picture of the same name. It is two years after Judgment Day--the date that the Terminator mythology assigns to the nuclear event that the machines will rain down on planet Earth--and what's left of humanity is caught in a life and death struggle against that same machine intelligence that sprung to life from the former defense super computer known as Skynet. Yet things are not quite what the the earlier chapters in the Terminator saga had predicted for these days. Although over the last two years human survivors of the catastrophe have prepared and organized themselves for the ongoing battle with the machines, John Connor, the character that the player assumes, has yet to emerge as the legendary hero he was foretold to be, and time is running out. In its early nuclear strikes against humanity, Skynet damaged part of itself. It has spent the last two years rebuilding its strength as well in order to complete its mission of the extermination of the human race. Now is the time to strike back at the machines. Now is the time for you and John Connor to take command.

Gameplay and Co-op Support
Action in Terminator: Salvation is from a third-person perspective and relies heavily on the use of cover. Correspondingly players will be able to lock on to cover, dive or slide from one cover point to the next and fire weapons without exposing themselves to return fire, but this doesn't mean that combat is easy. Cover is fully destructible in the game, meaning that your mechanical enemies will attempt to take that advantage away from you if they recognize that you are dug in. They will also make every attempt to flank your position. These two points are important because Terminator: Salvation forces you to take care of yourself in its single player campaign by not featuring a health regeneration system between checkpoints (health is fully restored at the end of survived levels). But health can be regenerated during combat via an AI or human teammate anytime when playing in the game's local co-op mode. The ability to team up in co-op mode is also a major aspect of gameplay in that it allows players to turn the tables on terminator units by flanking them and attacking their less heavily armored sides rather than head on. Both single player and co-op modes also feature access to vehicles which can be battled from as well.
